Matanzas is the ninth episode of season three and the twenty-ninth episode of the series.
Summary[]
The Geckos are going after Amaru, as she plots to regain her true form and open the gates of Hell.
Plot[]
The Gecko brothers and the rest of the group find themselves following Amaru to a mysterious Western ghost town in Matanzas, Texas but soon engage in a battle with an undead army of outlaws. As they confront the outlaws and killing them with the venom infused bullets, Machado and his men meet their end by being shot by the outlaws. Richie leads Zolo out of the town and defeats Zolo despite being in the sunlight. Scott, Aiden, Santánico, Carlos and Burt head underneath the tunnels and find many culebras who had been chained and tortured. While the group splits off, Carlos and Santánico find more chained culebras who swear allegiance to Amaru, but Carlos tries to convince Santánico is their true diosa and she must show that she is their leader. Scott and Burt fight when Scott decides to save his sister, and this causes a cave in.
Meanwhile, Venganza and Amaru confront each other, with Amaru mentioning how she loved her and felt betrayed when Venganza led her to her death. Amaru tells her that she might've forgave her if she didn't have to kill her, but Venganza decides to kill herself to prevent Amaru from killing her. After Venganza is reduced to ashes, the ceremony begins and before Freddie can escape with his family, Margaret becomes possessed by Amaru and joins her in the ceremony, holding the amulet.
After killing the last of the outlaws, Seth faces off with Brasa. Brasa tells him that he took the body of a pastor and has grown bored of him, having originally intended to take Freddie's, but decides Seth will do instead and they engage in a fight. He lures Brasa near Freddie's truck with the explosives and detonates them, killing Brasa in the process. While Richie is still in the jeep with Zolo outside, Seth heads to the church to stop the ceremony.
Amaru cuts the wrists of Kate's body deeply and as the last of the blood drops where the Lords ashes are, Kate drops to the floor and Scott goes to her. When Burt aims his weapon at the bubbling mass of blood, Amaru kills Burt and succeeds in her ceremony, regaining her true body and telling all of them to bow their heads.

Trivia[]
- Amaru regains her true form at the end of the episode.

- Brasa reveals that he possessed a pastor's body when he rose from the destruction of the Titty Twister. He originally wanted to inhabit Freddie's body since his immunity to culebra venom, but he decided he wanted Seth instead, before being killed by him.
- A deleted scene included on the DVD, supposedly originally meant to be shown as the episode's cold open, shows a flashback set "many moons ago" of the aforementioned pastor getting posessed by Brasa and killing his family.
